Welding Quality Control Training – Quality is an on-going process within the fabrication process. Too often weld quality control is left to a weld inspector after the welded product has left the welder’s area. Quality control is everybody’s job, especially the welding operator! QC personnel should only need to be concerned with dimensional tolerances, not weld size or weld quality … this is the welding operator’s job. However, it’s also important that the quality inspector understands weld procedures and weld quality if he/she is to do their job correctly. This also helps them to have a rapport with the welders in the plant. The introduction of CWI certification (Certified Weld Inspector) has helped this process.
